Oncology
Westat helps bring new cancer treatments to those who need them by designing, implementing and supporting oncology clinical trials with creativity, flexibility and integrity.
Recent data shows that survival rates for cancer patients continue to improve, due in large part to new therapies and advanced treatments being brought to market. With technology advancements that offer individualized treatment, oncology studies can be challenging to design. Our team of experts are committed to partnering with you every step of the way.
A Leader in the Fight Against Cancer
Westat is a foremost leader in championing oncology clinical trials. We including guiding the development and implementation of oncology research initiatives. With over 20 years of oncology experience, our team has designed clinical trials involving carcinoma, sarcoma, melanoma, lymphoma, glioma, and leukemia.
Addressing Changes and Challenges in Real Time
Early-phase oncology studies often undergo many protocol amendments through the life of a clinical trial. Westat’s staff respond quickly by pivoting to ensure all elements of the trial are collected and documented accurately – ensuring final analysis outcomes that are clear, credible, and readily available.
As problems arise, we address them creatively. Our depth and breadth of experience in oncology clinical trials enables us to not only understand and anticipate common challenges of trial implementation, but to also develop and implement solutions that can make the difference in getting a promising new treatment to market.
Honors that Underscore our Expertise
Since 1999, Westat has been with the contractor for the Cancer Therapy Evaluation Program’s (CTEP) Cancer Trials Support Unit (CTSU) at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), developing and implementing operational and informatics solutions for CTEP’s clinical trial research program. The CTSU was awarded multiple National Cancer Institute Director’s Awards for their work supporting NCI/CTEP’s mission to improve the lives of cancer patients by finding better ways to treat, control, and cure the disease. This honor spotlights the excellence not only of the CTSU, but also of Westat’s expertise and work with developing and implementing significant portions of CTEP’s Clinical Oncology Research Enterprise information technology platform.
